The U.S. dollar changed hands in the upper 109 yen zone in early deals in Tokyo on Wednesday, following a more than 1 yen rise overnight after solid economic data in New York.
As markets opened here, the dollar was quoted at 109.79-80 yen compared with 109.71-81 yen in New York and 108.50-51 yen at 5 p.m. in Tokyo on Tuesday.
The euro, meanwhile, fetched 1.1970-1970 and 131.42-43 yen against 1.1967-1977 dollars and 131.37-47 yen in New York and 1.2047-2048 dollars and 130.71-75 yen in late Tuesday afternoon trade in Tokyo.
